The obverse of the 1894 Indian Head Cent features a profile of Lady Liberty wearing a Native American headdress, inscribed with the word "LIBERTY." This design, created by James B. Longacre, was intended to represent the cultural amalgamation of the United States. The date "1894" appears below the bust. The reverse displays a laurel wreath encircling the denomination "ONE CENT." From 1860 onwards, the design included a small shield at the top of the wreath, adding a symbol of the Union.
